Bacon Dijon Green Beans

This is a favorite side dish of many served at special occasion dinners. Doesn't bacon make everything taste better?

Ingredients
  • 2 pkgs.(about 1½- 2 pounds) of whole green beans or haricots verts
  • 4 slices thick cut applewood bacon
  • 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 T. dark brown sugar
  • 1 T. Dijon Mustard
  • ¼ c. roasted red peppers, finely diced
Instructions
  1. Cook bacon on low heat in a large non-stick skillet, turning frequently, until lightly golden. Place on paper towels and allow to cool. Crumble and set aside.
  2. Take skillet off the heat.
  3. Whisk together in a small bowl the Worcestershire sauce, dark brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Add mixture to the skillet and whisk it into the bacon grease well until blended.
  4. Add green beans to pan and toss to coat with mixture.
  5. Return pan to medium-low heat, tossing frequently for about 5 minutes.
  6. Add 2 pieces of bacon crumbled and finely chopped roasted red peppers. Continue to cook for about 2 more minutes.
  7. Take off of the burner again and crumble the remaining 2 pieces of bacon.
